Finally, the big reveal. Two years ago I posted some simple ideas for garden art on a budget.
I referred to a project I was working on that involved re-purposing an old surf board to decorate an outdoor shower. This weekend my work was complete. The finished item is now ready to attach to the shower wall (still a work in progress!)
Pics below are self explanatory and show steps – feel free to replicate and share. It’s been a good way for me to unwind in school holidays and have also enjoyed some good chats with our sons who helped at various stages.
This would be a great wee project for kids to do on their own plus it’s a easy way to recycle those coffee pods that while convenient, are definitely not good for the environment.
To make your own you’ll need:
- Coffee pods – ask friends and family to donate (I did NOT drink this lot alone!)
- Craft knife to remove tops of pods
- Vice to flatten cleaned and dried capsules
- Hot glue gun
- Item to decorate – the surfboard was left in our garage by previous owners so cost nothing. I mixed surplus test pots to paint board. Good way to use them up too.
